Welcome to the official community website of Glenluce, an enchanting
rural village in Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway, south-west Scotland.
Glenluce is situated some 15 miles west
of Newton Stewart and 10 miles east of Stranraer, making it the perfect base from which to explore all that the Machars and
Rhins of Galloway have to offer.
The area is known for its unspoilt natural beauty. This idyllic location allows
visitors to simply relax and unwind from the pressures of modern life or, alternatively, indulge in a range of activities
from walking and cycling, angling and golf through to paintballing and clay pigeon shooting.
The area has some
of the best fishing rivers to be found anywhere in Britain with salmon and some sea trout fishing available in the Water of
Luce which flows by the village.
For those with an interest in history, Glenluce Abbey, which is managed by Historic
Scotland, is close by.
The main landmark at the edge of the village is the former railway viaduct, an impressive
8-arch structure taking the former Dumfries to Stranraer railway over the road and Water of Luce.
community very much looks forward to welcoming you to Glenluce soon!
